In less than a full season as a starter and just more than two years from being released from prison, Michael Vick in Philadelphia Eagles jerseys is fighting for rich, not just in the bank account, but in faith. He’s now out of the red.
Vick just agreed to the second $100 million contract of his football career. The Philadelphia Eagles have bet the future of their franchise on Vick, the same behavior as the Falcons did when they signed him to a $130 million deal in 2005. As has been well documented, the cash was spent freely and used to help fund the illegal dog fighting ring which led Vick to jail — and into bankruptcy. The downfall led Vick to lead a different life.
The Eagles have put much expectation on Vick. The comfort he’s feeling financially will soon turn into pressure to win. That pressure has nothing to what Vick has been through in his young life, but it’s pressure nonetheless. We’ll see whether he is worth of that money when he put on Michael Vick Eagles jersey on the field.
